Pilot Officer Walter Bartholomew McManus, from Ontario, Canada, who died on the 7th January 1942 when his Supermarine Spitfire crashed at Derrymacash, Co. Armagh.

Pilot Officer McManus was from 504 Squadron and was flying Spitfire P7823, which had been purchased as part of the Belfast Telegraph Spitfire Fund and was named "Down." He was flying from St Angelo Airfield in County Fermanagh to Ballyhalbert when the Spitfire crashed at Derrymacash, Lurgan.
