On the first day of the Battle of the Somme (1st July 1916), British forces suffered 57,470 casualties, including a staggering 19,240 fatalities, making it the bloodiest day in British military history.
It is estitmated that British forces suffered 420,000 casualties. Around 127,751 British soldiers were killed or died of wounds during the battle. The Battle of the Somme ended on the 18th November 1916.
The flag is 5 ft x 3 ft and made from high quality polyester.
