The War in Afghanistan was a prolonged conflict lasting from 2001 to 2021.
Operation Veritas was the codename used for British military operations against the Taliban government of Afghanistan in 2001. Operation Veritas also incorporated Operation Oracle, Operation Fingal, and Operation Jacana. It was succeeded by Operation Herrick.
During the 20-year UK military deployment in Afghanistan, a total of 457 UK armed forces personnel died, with 405 of those deaths resulting from hostile military action.
