Collection: Passchendaele 110th Anniversary Collection 2027

The Battle of Passchendaele, also known as the Third Battle of Ypres, was fought in Belgium between 31 July and 10 November 1917 and became one of the most brutal battles of the First World War.

British and Commonwealth soldiers advanced across a devastated landscape of shattered trenches, deep shell holes and seemingly endless mud, often under relentless German artillery and machine-gun fire. Thousands of men were killed, wounded or simply disappeared into the battlefield, with British Empire forces suffering around 275,000 casualties during the wider offensive.

Passchendaele has come to symbolise the terrible sacrifice of the ordinary British soldier—men who endured unimaginable conditions, carrying on through exhaustion, fear and loss. More than a century later, the rows of graves and the names of the missing around Ypres remain a powerful reminder of those who went into the mud of Passchendaele and never came home.
