Robin For Loved Ones Christmas Tree Ornament
The presence of a robin was a welcome sight for soldiers, offering a connection to the outside world and a sense of peace amidst the chaos of war.
During the Great War soldiers noted that robins would approach them for food, often begging for crumbs or pieces of bully beef.
One story tells of a soldier who believed a robin that stopped visiting his trench had warned him of a coming attack, as he was the sole survivor of a subsequent bombardment.
While back home we believe that "When Robins Appear, Loved Ones Are Near."
