Armistice of Compiègne Enamel Badge
The Armistice of Compiègne was signed on 11th November 1918, bringing an end to the fighting on the Western Front during the First World War. Agreed between the Allies and Germany, the armistice came into effect at 11:00am—“the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.” After four years of devastating conflict, the guns fell silent, offering relief to millions. Although not a formal peace treaty, it marked the beginning of the end of the war. Today, it is remembered annually as a moment of reflection, honouring those who served and sacrificed.
